Description
Taste the rainbow.
Done for Color Illustration class taught by Alvin Pettit, our assignment was to portray the the seven deadly sins any way we wanted.
I could of just done one piece with all the sins in it, but being the masochist that I am, I decided to do seven separate pieces.
In Illustrator.
I wanted to go for a 1920s Art Deco feel, with different women in different rooms that "represent" the sin they're portraying.
Envy - Room of Pin-Ups
Sloth - Room of Pillows
Vanity - Room of Mirrors
Lust - Room of Sensual Statues
Gluttony - Room of Desserts
Greed - Room of Treasure
Wrath - Room of Shatters
This took a lot longer than I expected, but I'm thankful it's finally done. I could've done a bit more with Vanity and Lust, but maybe I'll go back to those another time.
I think my favorite has to be Gluttony. Doing all the ice cream and pastries were fun :3
But I'm not doing vector illustration again for a looooong time. Unless recommended.

Envy is characterized by an insatiable desire like greed and lust. It can be described as a sad or resentful covetousness towards the traits or possessions of someone else. It comes from and severs a man from his neighbor.
Gluttony is the overindulgence and overconsumption of anything to the point of waste. The word derives from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow. One reason for its condemnation is that the gorging of the prosperous may leave the needy hungry.
Greed is an insatiable desire for material gain (be it food, money, land, or animate/inanimate possessions) or social value, such as status, or power. Greed has been identified as undesirable throughout known human history because it creates behavior-conflict between personal and social goals.
Lust is a romantic and intense longing. It is usually thought of as unbridled sexual desire, which may lead to fornication (including adultery), rape, bestiality, and other sinful and sexual acts; oftentimes, however, it can also mean other forms of unbridled desire, such as for money, or power.
Pride is considered the original and worst of the seven deadly sins on almost every list, the most demonic. It is also thought to be the source of the other capital sins.
Sloth refers to a peculiar jumble of notions, dating from antiquity and including mental, spiritual, pathological, and physical states. It may be defined as absence of interest or habitual disinclination to exertion.
Wrath can be defined as uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, and even hatred. Wrath often reveals itself in the wish to seek vengeance.
